Red Rock Bluffs

Oak Creek-3

Oil paint on canvas 5″x5″ (plein air miniature)

A painting done on location early in 1968 – Oak Creek Canyon, Arizona. My wife and I were newlyweds and going to college in Flagstaff, Arizona. Oak Creek was only 14 miles from the campus, but you dropped from 6000 feet to less than 600 above sea level in that short distance.

This was a favorite place to go for college students – you can see why. From snow to sunbathing in 30 minutes!

Red rock bluffs is a very special place, located in Sedona Arizona. It is thought to be one of those spiritual portals by the native peoples, and by scientists as well. It is often painted and photographed, my painting was done many years ago (45) when I was first married. My wife and I went there often to swim and picnic. Thank you for commenting on it.

It is one of those spots where there are lots of sightings of strange things in the sky, and stories of lost people, and hidden secrets. It is a beautiful place. Located near Flagstaff Arizona you drop from 6000 feet elevation to 300 feet above sea level in less than 14 miles. A steep and deep canyon.
